Oleochemicals

Intro

Oleochemicals are a group of chemical compounds derived from natural oils and fats. They are widely used in the production of a range of products, including food, personal care items, soaps, lubricants, and biofuels. The production of oleochemicals involves various processes such as pre-treatment, bleaching, fractionation, and hydrogenation. Throughout these processes, JEG provide extensive range of filter selections to maintain the purity and quality of the final product. Filtration products play a vital role in the oleochemical industry, ensuring optimal efficiency and reliability while meeting regulatory compliance standards.

Upstream - Crude Palm Oils / Crude Palm Kernel Oils (Pre-Treatment)

Intro

The crude palm oil (CPO) and crude palm kernel oil (CPKO) contain impurities that need to be removed before they can be used for further processing. JEG DynaWeb series are designed for Oleo applications including the removal of solid impurities, such as fibre, dirt, and other foreign materials.

Clarification

The crude oil may contain water and other impurities, such as gums and pigments. Filtration is required to clarify the oil and remove these impurities, which can affect the colour and flavour of the final product.

Sterilization

Sterilization of crude oil is essential to prevent the growth of microorganisms that could spoil the oil. Employing filtration is a viable method for eliminating any present microorganisms in the oil.

Deodorization

The raw oil might possess a potent smell because of volatile compounds. Employing filtration can eliminate these compounds, enhancing the smell of the end product.

Midstream Edible Oils Refinery (Bleaching, Fractionation)

Intro

Achieving the desired appearance, quality, and stability of refined, bleaching and deodorized(RBDO) oil products is crucial, and removing pigments and other impurities from crude fats and oils is an essential step in this process. Our JEG products and tailored solutions are designed to enhance your productivity and stability, ensuring that you can achieve the desired results.

Bleaching

Bleaching involves the removal of impurities and color from the oil using bleaching earth and activated carbon. This stage requires high-quality post filtration products that can effectively remove contaminants and ensure consistent color reduction. Our JEG Depth & Membrane filter are compatible to remove any remaining impurities and solid particles to achieve the desired level of clarity and quality in the final product.

Fractionation

Fractionation involves the separation of the various components of the oil, such as fatty acids and triglycerides. Along this intermediate process, applications of JEG Depth & Membrane filters will help to ensure the purity and quality of the final product.

Downstream Oleochemical (Hydrogenation)

In the hydrogenation process, JEG Depth & Membrane filters are used to remove impurities, catalyst fines, and other contaminants from the feedstock oil. This is essential to ensure the quality and purity of the final product, as well as to protect downstream equipment from fouling or damage. The hydrogenation process involves the addition of hydrogen gas to unsaturated fatty acids to convert them into saturated fatty acids. This process can generate particulates and other impurities, which can be effectively removed by our JEG depth filtration or membrane filtration. Additionally, our JEG cartridge filters are also designed tackle the traces of catalyst metals, which can negatively impact product quality and stability.
